Another Goodbye
Another Goodbye
by Paula Marie Martin
Yeah, that’s an empty seat,
Sure, you can buy me a drink.
Go on, and tell me what you think
About the lonely in my eyes.
No, he ain’t coming here,
I haven’t talked to him in years.
I’ll tell you what you want to hear,
So tell me all your best lies.
So get me high, or get me low.
Take it fast, or take it slow.
It don’t matter where we go
As long as I can fly.
And I’ll hang on to your hello,
Pretend it’s true, even though
Words are cheap, and we both know
You’re just another goodbye.
Heavy silence, empty rooms
Can make a person turn into
A stranger in the mirror who
Forgets about the price.
Now I’m haunted by mistakes,
Words I’ll never get to say.
Endless thoughts, there’s no escape
When you can’t apologize.
So get me high, or get me low.
Take it fast, or take it slow.
It don’t matter where we go
As long as I can fly.
And I’ll hang on to your hello,
Pretend it’s true, even though
Words are cheap, and we both know
You’re just another goodbye.
It can be you tonight
to help me forget the lies--
as long as you hide that leaving in your eyes.
Get me high, or get me low.
Take it fast, or take it slow.
It don’t matter where we go
As long as I can fly.
And I’ll hang on to your hello,
Pretend it’s true, even though
Words are cheap, and we both know
You’re just another goodbye.
Words are cheap, and we both know
You’re just another goodbye.
Oh, another goodbye.
Oh, you’re just another goodbye.
Another goodbye.
Another goodbye.
Another goodbye.
